Last night CF and I attended Lang Lang’s concert at Davies. Mozart, Beethoven, Albeniz, Granados, Liszt. Lang Lang is especially popular in the Chinese world, as might be expected – almost all the people near us were CF’s people :-) Mozart. OK. Beethoven. Bombastic quadruple fortissimo chords crashing down from hands high in the air, immediately followed by supremely delicate pppp passages. Lang Lang is very good at this, but it isn’t my favorite – Beethoven isn’t my favorite, really – symphonies OK, piano no – somehow I don’t quite get it? Lang Lang’s touch in the quiet parts is superb… ...

Recent images from my ZWO S30 plus. If you compare them to counterparts in the “Astro Gallery” post the difference beween a 90mm telescope on a good equatorial mount, and the 30mm S90 portable is quite noticeable. These all have a total exposure time of over an hour, with some processing with gimp. On reddit, some hobbyists report total exposure times of like 24 hours, accumulated over several nights and combined in post-processing. They get incredible results. But time is precious. ...

Switching from Ubuntu Studio to Arch-KDE – I was nervous at first, because Ubuntu Studio packages complex audio configuration into managability. But it also loads the kitchen sink. And it doesn’t include REAPER, my DAW of choice. Arch doesn’t include REAPER either, but then again, Arch doesn’t include much of anything. Anyway, I have installed Arch, about 20 times, and I’ve installed REAPER, and it works. The audio configuration wasn’t much of a problem – there isn’t much there to get in the way. Just install things as I need them, and reap the rewards of the resulting simplicity. Sometime, though… ...

Hello, world. This is mosqueeto.net, back from the dead. The old site was a WordPress installation that got compromised and started sending spam. Rather than clean it up, I replaced it with this — a plain static site generated by Hugo, served by nginx, with no server-side execution surface to exploit. More posts to come.
