A beauiful young woman singer is immensly popular in a country in thrall of a raising demagogue. She is pulled into his orbit, but her childhood love can’t stand it, and leaves her. Later she is in a triumphant warship of the demagogue at a climactic battle, and the rebel fleet is destroyed. But there is one ship with survivors, and she finds her dead love, who gave his life to get two other precious people to a location of safety in the sinking ship. she is horrified at what she has done.
