Dishwasher 101: Don’t rinse your dishes first!
I’ll make it simple. If you’re in the habit of rinsing your dishes before loading them into your dishwasher, stop it. You’re wasting water and time. What you should do, however, is scrape off the major food particles. Scrape. Don’t Rinse. I know what you’re going to say. “Keith, they’re not going to get clean if I don’t rinse them first.” Yes, they will. A modern dishwasher can handle it. If your dishwasher is more than 10 years old its cleaning ability is suspect. Scrape. Load. Wash. Let your dishwasher do what it was designed to do.
